My name is Mia Perez-Johnson, I am the owner, operator, and founder of Alchemy Recovery, and this is our story.

After years of battling with addiction, I finally had a change of heart, after sitting in a jail cell, praying to God, that if I could “get out of this (situation)” I was going to rededicate my life to music and the things I loved. I have to believe that God heard me that night because I was bailed out the next day and I have never looked back since. One day, as I was sitting on my bed in a sober house I was living in, extremely unhappy with the way things were going in that house I thought to myself, “what if I were to have my own sober house?” How would I do things differently? The next day I went to my father, Thomas Johnson, and asked him what he thought about opening a sober house, he loved the idea, and thus Alchemy Recovery was born. Alchemy Recovery is a father-daughter venture and the reason it thrives is the entrepreneurial spirit my father has and has in turn, instilled in me. My father has run many successful businesses for years. Because of our personal relationship with each other, with the struggles of addiction, and the beauties of recovery, our sober housing business is vested in a genuine commitment to actually helping people who are struggling, in a real way. As someone who is all too familiar with the traditional sober housing environment, I knew everything that worked and recognized everything I wanted to change. My philosophy on recovery is that the only true antidote is to find your purpose and run with it. That is what Alchemy Recovery is all about - encouraging addicts to discover and/or reconnect with their true purpose. We provide the resources to our residents that they need to discover or reconnect with their passions in life to help guide them through a successful recovery. Our first venture, Cherry’s House,” is unique in that it is run by myself, and as a recovering addict, I know what environment is necessary to recover successfully in. Cherry’s House is a unique, fresh, and comfortable space that is fun and truly enjoyable to be in. We even have a house cat, Wasabi, to provide animal therapy for our residents. Our unique approach to recovery is what makes us stand out. It is important to me to inspire other addicts to recognize the potential they individually can reach and see first-hand that really anything is possible through recovery. There is no dream untouchable, so long as recovery is obtained. If you or a loved one are looking for a safe and supportive house to reclaim your life and discover your purpose in, reach out to us today.
